My story

My name is Remi Cote I was born March 27, 1985. I had a spinal cord injury in 2007 after a motocross accident. I’m a T4 paraplegic.

I  was introduce to adaptive skiing on dualski in spring 2011 in Mont-Comi (Rimouski, Quebec). I had so much fun on the mountain that I decided to buy my own sitski. I learned how to ride my monoski with VASS (Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports) in 2012 and began racing  competitively that same year. My first race was the BC para alpine provincial championship in 2012.

In 2012-2013 I started training with a able body ski club in Mont-Comi. I compete in the sitting division and  I finished second at the Quebec winter chalenge in 2013, and have gone at Nationals and NorAms in Sun Peaks. During the last summer I started water skiing with Ski Ability Ottawa.

I  very proud because I joined AOPRT this fall, and plan to train and compete with them as a racer in:

– Ontario Winter Games;

– Nationals;

– NorAms.

When I am not skiing I work at the Municipal Office of Habitation in psychosocial intervention. I’m also finishing my bachelor’s degree in Psychosociology (communication in human relationship) at the University of Quebec in Rimouski.
